Who is this trip for?
This 4 day premium trip is your chance to experience the excitement of seeing the big names of world cycling compete at the 2010 UCI Road Cycling World Championships in Australia. Bikestyle Tours have put together a unique fully inclusive package for the cycling fan that includes first class accommodation adjacent to the start area for the Mens Road Race in Melbourne, transport to the race each day and our exclusive VIP hospitality area right on the race route. Please note that this is not a cycling tour, as it’s such a busy and exciting 4 days there simply isn’t time to fit in any riding! Day 1 Friday, 1 October 2010
Arrive in Melbourne today at your leisure. Biksetyle Tours will meet you as you arrive at Melbourne airport today and transfer you to our hotel, located in an ideal position in Melbourne’s Southbank precint, a few minutes walk from Federation Sqaure where the mens road race departs on Sunday. After your arrival the day is free to explore the city of Melbourne, which is right on our doorstep. Why not explore the revitalised downtown areas of Southbank and Docklands, or take in some culture at the highly regarded National Gallery of Australia which is adjacent to our hotel. Our local guides will be available to help you get the most from your stay in this vibrant city. Tonight we will host a welcome function for you where you’ll get to meet your fellow cycling fans and we’ll discuss our plans for the next few days.

Day 2 Saturday, 2 October 2010
Today we will travel to Geelong for the Womens Road Race, run over the Geelong city circuit for a total of 127kms. We will depart the hotel after breakfast for Geelong, approximately one hour from Melbourne. On arrival in Geelong we will take some time to look around the foreshore start area of the race before heading to our exclusive function at the Heights, a large National Trust property at the summit of the final and steepest climb on the race route. This afternoon you will see the race in comfort enjoying some fine food, local wines and beers, and even an espresso to finish off your meal. Our viewing point is one of the best on the course as the riders slow down on the steep grade, but you’ll be able to catch up with what’s happening throughout the afternoon with live coverage available for you on big screen tv’s. After the race is finished and the winner is known we’ll head back to Melbourne where the evening is free to eat at one of the many restaurants close to the hotel along the Yarra River.

Day 3 Sunday, 3 October 2010
The final day of the 2010 UCI Road Cycling World Championships sees a race start from Melbourne’s Federation Square this morning. The competing cyclists will ride a flat and open course from Melbourne to Geelong of 80km before tackling the multiple laps of the roughly 18km circuit in Geelong for a total distance of 260km. The length of the race and the multiple short sharp climbs on the circuit should suit the stronger riders who can power up the hills. This morning after breakfast we’ll walk the short distance from the hotel to Federation Square where we’ll see the riders arrive for the start of main event, the men’s road race. Expect big crowds this morning at the start who’ve come to catch a glimpse of their favourite riders.
After the race has departed the city we will return to the hotel and chase the race to Geelong, arriving as the riders make the first of their 11 laps of the circuit. We will once again enjoy an afternoon at our VIP location at The Heights in Geelong for what promises to be an exciting day of racing. Once the race is over and we’ve toasted the new World Champion we will head back to Melbourne where your final night is free to explore.

Day 4 Monday, 4 October 2010
The World Championships are over for another year and our trip sadly ends today. We will provide scheduled transfers from the hotel to Melbourne airport throughout the day for your convenience. We hope you’ve enjoyed your time in Melbourne and your World Championship experience.
