Our trips are designed for anyone with an interest in cycling and who wants to see the biggest professional cycling races of the season. This is our focus for our trips however we will combine it with great cycling along the course, classic roads and climbs of past Tours de France as well as some beautiful French countryside. There will also be some sightseeing opportunities, often riding through or visiting UNESCO World Heritage sites.
We have been running trips to the biggest of the Grand Tours, the Tour de France, for 20 years. We have an growing number of guests going to the other Grand Tours, at the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espagña. For our strongest cycling enthusiasts, our ex-professional cyclist and local Belgian Eric de Clercq escorts trips following the Spring Classics, where guests can ride the fabulous cyclo-sportive courses and watch the best one-day monument races. We are in our fifth consecutive year in running trips to the Tour of California where guests see the best of California’s coastal regions, wine country and ride their challenging mountains. Each year we start of the season with the first UCI race on it’s calendar, the Tour Down Under, on our doorstep in Adelaide.
We cater for cyclists of all abilities by providing riding different options each day – we understand that some guests want to ride every day, while others just want to ride the best sections. All our rides are escorted by professional guides and you choose from challenge rides or a more relaxed option. We ride on quiet scenic roads and where possible we ride on the race course ahead of the race. Our trips will usually offer a visit to a start, a finish and some stages out on the road possibly including a feed zone.
We endeavour to limit the travelling but following a Grand Tour covers a lot of country. Therefore, we stay in our hotels for multiple nights where ever possible so you can relax and savour the locations, culture and cuisine.
We also cater for people who do not ride bikes with visits to the race and other attractions but an interest in seeing the biggest cycling races, like the Tour de France, is important as it is the main focus of the trip. We travel to stage finishes and to the base of the mountains so that the course is only a short walk away. We meet the cyclists at specific points: stage finishes, villages at the base of the final climb, so you will get to see your partner during the day and spend time with them if you wish!
We also stay in towns where non cyclists can choose to stay and do tourist walks and shop or just relax if they wish. Each year we had a number of non cyclists who enjoy the trip.
Our most popular trips are the Classique Trips, but many guests want to unpack their bags and stay for a week go on our Centre-Based Trips. For those not interested in riding a bike to see the Tour de France, we also offer Spectator Only Trips.
What is a Classique Trip?
Bikestyle Tours Classique is the trip that our company started with and is based on.
They are the same highly popular tours we have run since 1996 offering the perfect mix of cycling, race viewing and experiencing France with the help of our highly experienced team including ex professional riders who lend their special insight into race. The combination of good service, attention to detail and value for money has proven to be a winning formula.
As part of our continual improvement we’ve reduced passenger numbers without sacrificing our unbeatable service and value. We now have a group maximum of 35 people per trip (some are less) with a ratio of better that 1 staff to 7-8 clients, one of the best in the business. We have on the road guides as well as support vans to provide assistance where needed.
For the Classics Trips all our hotels are chosen on quality and location. We generally use 3 star hotels, sometimes 4 star hotels. Occasionally we will use a superior 2 star hotel if we decide that the location is superior to the next available 3 star hotel, perhaps closer to the race route and involving less travel time for our clients.
What is a Centre Based Trip?
Centre Based Cycling Holidays are a great way to experience the Tour de France with a one week stay in the one location. With plenty of riding, time to relax and still check out a few stages of the race, it is no wonder these trips are growing in popularity.
These trips are Cyclists Only Trips as the focus is on riding your bike and seeing a few stages of the race.
Group maximums are generally smaller with around 20 clients per trip and a ratio of better that 1 staff to 7-8 clients, one of the best in the business. We have on the road guides as well as support vans to provide assistance where needed.
Accommodation is chosen on quality and location. We generally use 3 star hotels, superior 2 star hotels or chalet accommodation and more evening meals are provided.
What is a Spectator Trip?
You’ve watched the Tour de France on TV, but nothing beats the experience of seeing it live! If you are a fan of “Le Tour” but don’t want a cycling tour, then this trip is tailored for you. This small group experience follows the Tour de France and includes an afternoon as a VIP on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. As with all of our trips we look after all the details, all you have to do is enjoy the experience.
Not only do you get to experience one of the world’s great sports events, the Tour de France, but you’ll get to visit some of the most beautiful areas of France.
This trip is designed for those who do not wish to ride a bike to see the Tour de France, however some walking will be involved during the trip to be able to view some of the race stages, particularly on the climbs. The amount of walking involved is suitable for any person of average fitness and health. Walking to get to the race route is necessary for you to get the most out of your trip and we do everything within our control to ensure a comfortable trip for you at all times.
For the Spectator Trips, all our hotels are chosen on quality and location. We generally use 3 star hotels, sometimes 4 star hotels.
